Events, Classes, and Projects For the 2007-2008 Unschool Year

The Center is open Monday through Friday, except holidays, from 8:30 to 3:30. Classes are generally scheduled in the time slots from 10 - 11:30 am and from 1 - 2:30 pm. As always, we are open to your ideas for classes, projects, and activities, so please let us know if there is something you want to see as part of Balance Rock for the coming year.

• Craft classes - open to ages 10 and up


• Singing classes - open to ages 10 and up


• Starting your own business on Ebay! - open to ages 10 and up


• VEX Robotics - open to ages 10 and up


• Destination Imagination - we could have a "middle school" team or a "high school" team, or both, depending on interest.


• Creative Problem Solving based on Mathematics - An exploration of higher Mathematics based on the study of sound - open to anyone who wants to extend their knowledge of algebra and other mathematical techniques.


• Mock Trial - open to ages 13 and up


• Exploratory, hands-on Chemistry - open to ages 10 and up


• Environmental Science - open to ages 10 and up


• Cooking and nutrition - open to ages 10 and up


• Cultural studies - open to ages 10 and up


• Creative writing - open to ages 10 and up


• Winter Gardening - open to ages 10 and up


• Pottery - open to ages 10 and up


• Forging techniques - open to ages 10 and up


• Computer Programming and open-source software - open to all ages, but involves higher level mathematics


• Movie or TV production - open to ages 10 and up


• Creative writing/blogging - open to ages 10 and up


• Private flute and recorder lessons - open to ages 10 and up


• Beginner Spanish Software- open to ages 10 and up


• Beginner Italian Software - open to ages 10 and up


• As well as the use of the center's resources for art, photography, video, music, and time to explore your interests...
